My statement

The bathtub buried in the backyard with a six-inch-long gold blur that moved back and forth in the green muck was the well. The tree was my lean-to, I was an old woman, homeless, hungry, carrying my buckets of mush back from the well to my house. I was a witch, casting spells in my circle in the field, catching the light and making clouds move with my turquoise bracelet bought at a Stuckey's on a family trip to Big Bend. I was a tired man coming home to my small efficiency apartment after a hard day of work, writing endless loops of e's. That was my childhood in suburban Houston.
When I paint, the canvas is a vibration that the forms and figures exist in, well grounded with light and energy moving around them, particles and forces bouncing and blinking - like us they aren't creating the connection to beauty and disquiet power, but are simply existing inside of it.
My inspiration comes from what pushes against me. My anxiety, my response to all that I experience, the beauty around me, the ugliness, the smells and texture of the city - it all becomes something expressed.
