      My statement
This pyramid image is an important discovery arising from my meditation on beauty.

Kenneth Clarke, the broadcaster and author of ‘Civilisation’ stated: “All art is, in one way or another, about the search for God.” After Art College, I was definitely in search of a mission, but I was then a confirmed agnostic. Meanwhile I was engaged by some prestige department stores to produce canvasses for their window displays, concerned as I was, with fashion images as they refer to attraction and the mythological power of the Goddess. My mission came into focus when circumstances developed to confront me in reality with a “Divine” power, through the weird phenomena of synchronicity. This 20th century term was coined by the Swiss psychotherapist and thinker Carl Jung. It describes meaningful coincidences that allow glimpses of a transcendent meaning caught within the mundane reality we normally inhabit. I decided to develop the influence. Eventually, this pyramid emerged three years into the project, once I’d moved to Sao Paulo Brazil. There it was that I sat down one long weekend in October 1987 to create this image using synchronicity as my guide. I hoped to establish something palpable to demonstrate the partnership I had forged. This is why the image is built on mathematics. I found the source codes for it in the world’s oldest constantly used book, systematically transforming them via a formula and mandala structure. As a matter of interest, the same codes were recognised by Gottfreid Liebnitz as precursors to his invention of the binary code. Curiously, the same primeval book heralds synchronicity as a means by which to find synergy with Nature.
The ancient Greeks understood beauty as encapsulated in certain mathematical and geometrical relationships. The “Golden Section” is just one example they employed in their architectural design. The same relationship is expressed by the spiral of a conch shell, which is truly fascinating, I’m sure you’
