A Brief Description of My Work Process…
Using acrylic on canvas, and illustration board, I juxtapose pure design with natural visual elements creating layered effects and textures from bright bold colors to earth tones. I build these layers creating a variety of textures and shapes. I then lay in transparent washes in some areas that create a visual depth and points of interest. I often incorporate gold leaf and other collage items.
I am also a children's book illustrator. Currently I have four books published and three to be published later in 2008.

Professional artist
As a professional artist, Rick has won over 150 art awards, and has had his work accepted in the Southern Watercolor Society juried exhibitions, the Mississippi Watercolor Membership exhibitions, the Louisiana International Water Media Exhibitions, Rutgers National Drawing Exhibition, Rocky Mountain National Water Media Exhibition, the Maryland National Waterfowl National Exhibition, and has won Best of Show at the Gum Tree Festival in Tupelo and Three Foot Art Festival in Meridian. His work is also collected by many private citizens as well as numerous corporations.
I also do Illustrator School Visits, literacy festivals, young author fairs, and teacher inservice presentations throughout the USA.
