Mission statement
The Smithsonian Associates Art Collectors Program is dedicated to the creation, dissemination, and appreciation of contemporary American limited-edition art. The program provides education and understanding of fine art prints and other art forms, creates a context for collecting, and presents a forum for artists to discuss their work.

Since 1972, the Smithsonian Art Collectors Program has commissioned American artists to create limited-edition works of art on paper that are available for purchase. Proceeds from the sale of the art benefit the cultural and educational programs of the Smithsonian.
