  My statement
As a young child I lived in Manhattan. I can clearly remember my mother sitting on a bench outside Central Park telling me that we were going to move to the country. I was so excited at the thought of having a garden! Well my childhood garden never materialized. The “country” turned out to be a busy street in Queens and our small front yard was cut back so that the street could be widened.

But life ultimately brought me to a small town in the Catskill Mountains, and that always dreamed of garden became a reality. It has been growing and overgrowing in size and richness ever since. The flowers in my garden and the beauty of the world around me inspire my floral and landscape paintings.

Painting is central to my being. It makes me feel grounded, rooted in the world. My training as a colorist with strong emphasis on abstract design and composition informs my work. And the freshness and intensity of watercolor, its fluidity and directness makes it the perfect medium with which to attain the clarity, light and joy I aim for in my art.

I feel akin to Matisse in my goal of providing visual pleasure for the viewer. I am delighted that my work appeals to a wide audience and yet brings them something more than a decorative piece.
